50%
CAGR Forecast For Wi-Fi Power Amplifier Market
The Wi-Fi power amplifier market will enjoy
triple-digit gains in 2003, with a fairly robust compound annual
growth rate of about 50% through 2007. As companies look to
differentiate themselves on price and performance, new opportunities
abound for suppliers of both silicon and gallium arsenide (GaAs)
power amplifier (PAs).
Silicon-based power amplifiers for Wi-Fi
applications have traditionally dominated the market. However, more
suppliers are working with GaAs for the performance benefits the
material offers, particularly with advanced modulation techniques
and at higher frequencies. Over time, solutions from both GaAs and
silicon will be common for Wi-Fi applications, as the market becomes
more segmented.
